It seems impossible to believe that Tom Redmond is no longer with us. We have a video chat every month - I missed the last one due to my daughter's wedding, and earlier this week I got an excited message from him confirming the next. Which it would appear he is now going to miss. Not sure if I can forgive him. He always had such life and positivity. I still find it hard to believe that he is no longer with us.
Paul Richards mentioned that he acted as road manager. I recall him planning the hotels for the Robert Fripp String Quintet in the early 1990s, and telling me that he had ensured that the days off were near golf courses, and that I was expected to play golf with him (despite not being a golf player). Halfway round one of the courses, attempting some impossible shot for the umpteenth time, he told me that it was perfectly acceptable to pick up the ball and walk to the next hole!
In the book case opposite me, I have a gift he gave me - a book entitled "The 7 habits of highly effective people". I recall asking him if this was a subtle way of telling me that I was not very effective! It is difficult to imagine someone more effective than Tom. He improved everything he touched. And always did so with his infectious laughter. We were all so very very lucky to have him in our lives. Farewell Tom. A life unbelievably well lived. It was a real pleasure knowing you.
